Cleaning LEGO might sound like a chore, but fear not! It's a fun and straightforward process that ensures your beloved bricks stay sparkling and ready for endless adventures.
Cleaning Sets
At Bricks & Minifigs, all we usually need to clean sets is a makeup brush. We’ve done the research and can tell you that canned air, wet wipes, and dusting cloths aren’t as effective. Get a decent set of makeup brushes to brush away dust regularly to keep your sets looking nice. If there’s more than dust on your sets, you may need to take the set apart and follow the instructions below:
Cleaning LEGO pieces
Grab those LEGO pieces in need of a bath and head over to your sink. Fill it up with warm, soapy water—nothing too crazy, just a splash of your favorite dish soap will do. Now, it's time for the magic to happen!
Gently dunk those LEGO pieces into the bubbly oasis. Let them soak up the suds while you listen to your favorite tunes. As they bask in the soapy goodness, give them a gentle swish and swirl to shake off any stubborn dirt or dust.
Got some stubborn stains or sticky residue hanging around? No worries! Grab your trusty toothbrush or a dedicated LEGO cleaning brush and give those pesky spots a good scrub. Think of it as giving your LEGO friends a little massage—they'll thank you for it later!
Once you've scrubbed away the grime and dirt, it's time to rinse off the suds. Hold each piece under running water, letting the clear cascade wash away any remaining soap bubbles. Ah, refreshing!
Now, it's time to let your LEGO pals air dry. Lay them out on a clean towel or dish rack, giving them plenty of space to stretch out and soak up the sunshine. You may need to flip them over to be sure you drain all parts of the pieces. One of our tricks is to scoop wet LEGO pieces into a finely woven laundry bag. Every so often, we shake the bag and flip it over to drain another side of the bricks. Remember, patience is key here. Make sure they're completely dry before you even think about popping them back together.
For those extra stubborn stains that refuse to budge, bring out the big guns—baking soda! Mix up a paste with a bit of baking soda and water and apply it to those trouble spots. Let it work its magic for a few minutes, then give it a gentle scrub. Voila! Good as new.
If you're dealing with metal axles or delicate electronic bits, take it easy. A soft, damp cloth is your best friend here. Give them a gentle wipe-down, being careful not to soak them through.
So there you have it—cleaning LEGO doesn't have to be a drag. With a little bit of soap, water, and elbow grease, you can keep your bricks in tip-top shape and ready for their next grand adventure!
